Crossroads is returning for its third year as a hub for the 2023 Philly Fringe Festival. For two weeks at Theatre Exile in South Philly you will be able to see dozens of artists and acts in over two dozen shows performances and workshops! We have everything from Crossroads staples to brand new shows to local talent to comedy legends. Tickets for most shows and workshops are on sale now with more surprises going online soon!

The crown jewel of our two week run that’s already stacked with gems is the fantastic Kevin McDonald (Kids In the Hall). Kevin will be making his first visit to Philly in several years. As part of his trip Kevin will be teaching not one. This is an awesome chance to not just watch him perform, but also learn from him.

On Saturday, September 23rd he will be teaching Squeezing Comedy From Improv, which will show you how to use improv to write sketches and on Sunday, September 24th our comedy writing students are in luck as he’ll be leading One Line Premise, a workshop which will teach students Kevin’s method for breaking down a premise to write a scene. There’s only a few spots left in each!

For his show, Kevin McDonald & Friends, he will be doing solo material and performing an improv set with several Crossroads performers! Tickets are probably going to sell out, so get yours now.

Kevin McDonald of the Kids In the Hall, Invader Zim, Lilo & Stitch, and of course Denim Vest from Seinfeld.

Kevin isn’t the only out of town guest we have featured in this year’s festival. We’re also welcoming back the amazing New York City improv duo of Kornfeld & Andrews for both shows and improv workshops on 9/15 and 9/16. Last fall these two not only sold out their performance, but their classes as well. In Spring, we welcomed Ben Miller’s Stand-up Science to our first ever Class Clowns Comedy Festival and we are excited to announce that he will be back with his new show, Volcano, during Fringe.

We also have IN town guests! For the first time we’re bringing in fellow comedy theaters and producers into our Hub. ComedySportz Philly will have a couple shows including Trending and their signature format, Nicole Phoenix is dropping by with The Comments SectionThe Incredible Shrinking Matt & Jaquie will be celebrating a decade of hilarious sketch comedy in Philly, Nick Gillette stages his new improv show Todorov’s Clean Sheets, pauli reese brings back their hit improvised rockumentary Off the Record, and Why Can’t We Be Fringe? a stand-up comedy show featuring rising stars Tata Sherise, Marcus Lavar, and Mel Harris.

Crossroads is also bringing back some of our favorites such as Study Hall: Comedy Inspired By Lectures, Yes & Stand-up, 90’s Sit-com Classics, and Group Therapy. You’ll also get the chance to see the debut of new shows such as Zip Zap Love, an improv dating show where love is the game. If that wasn’t enough – there will be even more announced including shows and workshops!

As you may have seen, we are in the process of pursuing non-profit 501(c)(3) status.  We believe that this formation more closely aligns with and will help us achieve our goals as a theatre company and how we can better serve the arts community in Philadelphia. Last week we launched our first fundraiser! This campaign is to support our efforts for the upcoming Fringe Festival. Your donations will help us assist dozens of artists and acts with  financial, artistic, and resource needs. Funds will also allow us to offer an allotment of complimentary tickets to each performance as well as produce several completely free shows.
