We are very excited to announce the Class Clowns Comedy Festival! This festival will consist of eight comedy shows that also have some sort of educational component. Much like the long running Study Hall: Comedy Inspired By Lectures, the Class Clowns Comedy Festival aims to educate as much as it does to entertain. The festival will feature regular running shows, visiting performances, original productions, and remountings of Philly favorites. There will also be a workshops happening on Saturday, April 1st. Workshops will include a an Improv Basics Workshop with Kelly Conrad. Workshops will be free – and that’s no April Fool’s joke!

Class Clowns is taking place fully within Philly Theatre week 2023. This will be our third year participating in the city-wide festival – we debuted during the Philly Theatre Week back in 2021 – and we could not be more excited, particularly with this line-up of shows. If you are unfamiliar with the event, Theatre Philadelphia hosts Philly Theatre Week: a 10-day celebration of the artists, organizations, and audiences that have made Greater Philadelphia one of the most vibrant theatre regions in the nation. Audiences will have an opportunity to try something new from our theatre community through a series of productions, readings, interactive events, and much more! There will be a very limited number of Pay What You Can tickets available through the Philly Theatre Week website.

As one of the only alternative comedy theaters in the area that pays the artists that grace our stages, Crossroads relies on ticket sales to help support our artists and our continued operation. Ticket sales and donations also go to support our community efforts including free shows and financial assistance for Crossroads classes. We greatly appreciate any amount you are able to pay to enjoy the show should you purchase tickets through the Philly Theatre Week website.

As always, we would like to thank all who continue to support us whether it is at shows, in classes, or both. We hope to see you at the Class Clowns Comedy Festival. We promise you will laugh, learn, and leave without homework!

LOCATION: Plays & Players Theatre, Skinner Studio (3rd Floor), 1714 Delancey Place, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
Quig’s Pub will be open! This is NOT a BYOB venue. Plays & Players is historic building and is unfortunately not an accessible space.

COVID PRECAUTIONS: Masks will be mandatory while in the building. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided for you. Though Crossroads no longer requires proof of vaccination, we highly encourage all patrons to be up to date on vaccinations. Artists are fully vaccinated and will be on stage performing without a mask.  These policies may change if the guidance of the CDC, City of Philadelphia, or advice of other public health experts recommend.
