We are super excited to announce that Caitlin Corkery will be taking over as Director of our long running show, Study Hall: Comedy Inspired By Lectures!

Caitlin knows Study Hall very well. She was on the original cast of the improv team, Asteroid!, that helped create the show for the 2011 Philadelphia Science Festival and has been along for the ride ever since. In addition to Asteroid! and Study Hall, Caitlin performs with Philly favorite improv team, The Future, when the stars align for all members to assemble somewhere in the country. Outside of the improv world Caitlin has hosted The Moth Storytelling show at World Cafe Live as well as created the upcoming WHYY kids shows Albie’s Elevator and The Infinite Air Hunt (also featuring several Crossroads performers!). Caitlin has been a huge asset on stage and will be amazing behind the scenes in helping to keep this long running comedy show one of the best in the city to see.

Caitlin replaces Crossroads founder and the director of Study Hall for the last 12 years, Mike Marbach. Mike worked with Asteroid! to create the act with Professor Michael Yudell that would become Study Hall in 2011. He’s guided the show through special events at such institutions as the Art Museum, Academy of Natural Sciences, Museum of the American Revolution, oversaw six years of regular shows at Philly Improv Theater, moved the show to the internet when COVID-19 hit, and has worked with Crossroads staff and performers to safely reintroduce the live version of the show over the last couple years. Mike will continue to be involved in Study Hall overall as he works to expand the show to other cities. Mike had this to say about the change “I’ve worked with Caitlin for almost 13 years(!). There’s no one I’d rather see take over the show. Study Hall is in great hands and it will continue to be one of the best shows in the city to see.”

The next Study Hall show is Saturday, May 6th and will be a special “Saturday Detention” installment. All improv will be inspired by true stories from the cast’s school days. Get your tickets here.
