Crossroads Comedy Theater is the home for comedy shows and podcasts featuring hilarious performers from the Philadelphia area and beyond. We produce live shows, podcasts, classes and workshops. Crossroads is available for private shows, improv workshops, or other things you might have in mind. Let us know!
Crossroads Comedy Theater offers live comedy in a safe and accessible way for performers and audiences. Our mission is to forge connections in a virtual community through entertainment and education. We strive to make people laugh, think, and feel, or, at the very least, blink. What makes Crossroads Comedy Theater unique is its ability to localize itself to several communities at once through the virtual sphere. Our performers and audiences are based all over the United States, which began out of necessity during the pandemic, but has grown into one of our greatest strengths. As live venues reopen, we aim to also perform both public and private shows across the country, so audiences will be able to check us out in person, online, on the air, or in the air (if you’re tuning in mid-flight). No matter where you’ve been, where you are, or where you’re going, Crossroads Comedy Theater has something to offer you.
Crossroads Comedy Theater was founded in 2021 by Mike Marbach of Philadelphia. Previously, Mike served as Education Director (2011-2017) and Artistic Director (2017-2020) at Philly Improv Theater where he also instructed, directed, and performed. After live in-person entertainment stopped due to Covid-19, Mike found that many of the performers he most often worked with were interested in continuing to find ways to create. As a result, the cast of Study Hall: Comedy Inspired by Lectures tested the waters of virtual live comedy. When successful runs of Study Hall gave Not Yet Rated: An Improvised Movie the thumbs up that no sharks were in the water, this cast also dove into the online ocean. Did that metaphor work? While lifeguarding all of that, Mike realized that the podcast network and each comedy show he oversaw had their own websites, social media, email addresses, and ticketing systems, and decided it was best to pull everything under one roof. That’s how Crossroads Comedy Theater was born. Well, not born so much as the business entity was registered with the government.
Below is everyone involved in every show and podcast produced by Crossroads Comedy Theater. Beyond being incredibly funny comedic performers they also harbor other incredible talents that might be of use to you. We have people in who, their non-comedy lives, are involved in professional video editing, voice over work, composing music, writing original songs, designing jewelry, creating animated videos, and so much more. Check out their bios, click the links. follow them on social, and you might find someone to help you with that thing you need help with!
